Our Story: Five Years in the Making

Our Story: Five Years in the Making

Long before there was A Little Kitschy, there was a little space that couldn't quite decide what it wanted to be, and that turned out to be exactly the point.

For five years, I worked in that same little corner of the neighborhood, first for a shop that lived and breathed kitchen and food, the kind of place where you'd stop in for good coffee beans and leave with a new favorite hot sauce too. Later, the space became a home décor shop, filled with the kind of pieces that make a house feel lived-in: warm textures, quiet colors, things you'd want to touch.

Two different owners. Two different visions. One thing that never changed: the customers.

Week after week, year after year, I watched the same faces come through that door, and I heard the same thing over and over, in a dozen different ways, "I wish you also had…" Kitchen shoppers wandering in wanted the candles and the trays. Décor shoppers wanted the coffee and the good snacks to bring home for guests. Nobody wanted to choose between the two worlds. They just wanted both, in one place, done well.

I got to know those customers better than I ever expected to. Their gift-giving habits. Their Sunday morning rituals. What they bought for themselves and what they bought for someone else. Five years is a long time to stand behind a counter, long enough to stop thinking like an employee and start thinking like the person who should be running the place.

So when the opportunity came to open something of my own in that same space, there was really only one idea worth building: stop making people choose.

That's how A Little Kitschy came to be, a boutique that finally brings both worlds together under one roof. Coffee beans and loose leaf tea sit near hand-poured candles. Home décor and rattan serving trays share shelf space with pre-packaged snacks, dips, and crackers, ready for whatever you're hosting next. It's kitchen. It's home. It's gifts. It's a little bit of everything, the way our customers always wanted it.

Every product in this shop was chosen with those five years in mind, the conversations, the requests, the little things people lingered over but never found in one place. This isn't a shop built from a business plan. It's a shop built from paying attention.

Thank you for being part of that story, whether you've been a customer since the very first version of this space, or you're just now finding your way in for the first time. Either way, welcome home.
